'Good Morning America' News Anchor

"Good Morning America" news anchor Chris Cuomo covers all major news for the program, either anchoring in the studio or reporting from the field. He also continues to serve as co-anchor of the evening newsmagazine "Primetime," which he joined in April 2004.

Since joining "GMA" in 2006, Cuomo has reported live from the field on almost all major breaking news stories, including Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, the Pennsylvania Amish school shootings and the Sago mine collapse in West Virginia, where he was the only reporter breaking news on both morning and evening news broadcasts.

Cuomo was first on the scene for the network at the Virginia Tech shootings in April 2007 and also co-anchored a special edition of "Primetime" from the Virginia Tech campus. He followed this coverage through during the rash of school violence that followed.

Cuomo also played a role in "Good Morning America's" coverage of the 2008 presidential election, reporting live throughout the major primaries and the general election, as well as interviewing the major candidates.

During the Sept. 11, 2001, World Trade Center attacks, Cuomo was one of the first reporters on scene, developing stories of courage at ground zero. He also reported on the lead-up to the attacks.

Cuomo has covered the resulting war on terrorism from Iraq, Turkey, Pakistan and other regional sites. He reported live from Baghdad, Iraq, just after experiencing a massive IED attack, bringing morning viewers firsthand reports of our troops' brave efforts.

Cuomo has made several trips to Pakistan. He interviewed Benazir Bhutto before her return to the country, and most recently to interviewed former President Musharraf.

His most recent international trip included covering the expectations and reaction of the Muslim world surrounding President Obama's trip to Egypt.

During the ongoing financial crisis, Cuomo has often led "GMA's" coverage of the developing issues, taking on the finance industry and government, in an effort to develop understanding and accountability.

Cuomo has distinguished himself at ABC News with investigative reporting as the chief law and justice correspondent, covering national drug issues, medical insurance scams, prescription drug issues, and various child-related stories. Notably, Cuomo drove reporting on the Duke University lacrosse scandal that resulted in the exoneration of several students.

With the "GMA Gets Answers" series, he has taken on the insurance and finance industries, championing the cause of American families in need.

In 2009, Cuomo launched the AmeriCAN campaign, focusing on Americans who go above and beyond to help out those in need and are featured on "GMA."

His reporting and interviewing have been recognized with more than a dozen journalism awards, including the Loeb Award for business reporting as well as multiple Emmy nominations and awards. Cuomo's "Good Morning America" profile of inspiring 12-year-old poet Mattie Stepanek was recognized with a News Emmy, making him one of the youngest correspondents to receive this award in network news history.

At "GMA," Cuomo has also developed a niche: standing on, and in one case, falling from incredible heights. Cuomo and crew await certification by the Guinness World Records for the highest live broadcast ever, on the Burj tower in Dubai, UAE. He also famously got dropped from the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City for $40,000 in charitable donations.

Before joining ABC News, Cuomo was a correspondent for the Fox News Channel and Fox Broadcast Network's "Fox Files."

Cuomo is a licensed attorney. A New York native, he received his law degree from the Fordham University School of Law in New York City, and his undergraduate degree from Yale University. He resides in New York City with his wife and two children.
