Shaun White on Sasha Cohen: 'Sparking All Night'
March 8, 2006 — -- Shaun White says he and Sasha Cohen hit it off when they finally met at his Olympic victory party at LAX, a club in Hollywood, Calif., on Feb. 28.
"Man, it was sparking all night," said White, who won a gold medal in the halfpipe competition.
But White, who had everybody playing matchmaker for him and Cohen, wasn't claiming anything more than that.
"It was cool to meet her," he said. "Just friends, good times."
White has earned the nickname "The Flying Tomato" because of his shaggy red hair, but he says he wants to adopt a new nickname: "Golden Handsome Pants."
"I talked to Ellen [DeGeneres] and she called me 'Golden Handsome Pants,'" White said. "I don't know if that one will catch on."
He doesn't enjoy being called "The Flying Tomato."
"Oh, man, we could do better," he said. But "it could be worse."
White enjoys being a celebrity -- even to other celebrities, as his recent trip to the Oscars proved.
"That was just a trip because the coolest thing that happened was, I would run up to these celebrities, Tom Cruise or somebody and say, that's amazing, they were just excited to see me," White said.
