How To Distinguish Between Fibromyalgia And Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Pain?

Question: How Can I Distinguish Between Pain Caused By Fibromyalgia And Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?

Dr. Warfield answers the question: 'Fibromyalgia Or Chronic Fatigue Pain?'

Answer: Chronic fatigue syndrome is a condition that occurs much less commonly than fibromyalgia. Patients with chronic fatigue syndrome may suffer from the same type of pain as patients with fibromyalgia, but the hallmark of this disease is severe exhaustion, both mental and physical which is unrelieved by rest. Also, in order to make the diagnosis of chronic fatigue syndrome, you need to have had these symptoms for at least six months, and you need to have ruled out other possible causes.
