— -- Question: How effective is interpersonal therapy for the treatment of depression in children/adolescents?

Answer: Interpersonal therapy -- or IPT -- I think it's quite effective. The body of literature surrounding it is smaller than the literature supporting CBT, but I think it's really a very very promising approach.

IPT tends to focus upon the pattern of social relationships that the depressed teenager or child has. And by improving the quality of their relationships, tends to lead to an improvement in mood. I think it's really a very promising approach.
