The Latest Cholesterol Guidelines Focus On LDL, Why Is That?

Question: The latest cholesterol guidelines focus on LDL, why is that?

Dr. Scott Grundy answers the question: 'Why Do Guidelines Focus On LDL?'

Answer: LDL is called the bad cholesterol and it has been proven in many, many studies that LDL causes coronary heart disease. It leads to cholesterol build-up in arteries and can predispose to coronary heart disease. And that is well proven and an important thing to keep in mind when evaluating your risk for having a heart attack.
