October 24, 2008— -- Two stories top our broadcast on Sunday. The economy and the last days of a riveting campaign.

The Dow closed today at 8378.95, down 473.27 for the week, off 36% from its yearly high hit just five months ago. This was the lowest close for the Dow since April 25, 2003, part of a global sell-off as investors fear a deepening global economic slowdown. But a prominent voice in the business community sees light at the end of the tunnel. Jack Welch, former CEO of General Electric, argues that the US economy will emerge from this "necessary correction" healthier and stronger. In an exclusive interview on This Week, George will ask Mr. Welch reasons for his optimism and what investors, business and the government need to do to weather the current storm.

Then on to politics. With 10 days to go in the campaign we'll talk to one of McCain's top supporters, Lindsey Graham, and one of Obama's top supporters, Rahm Emanuel. What's the end game? What are the candidates' closing arguments? What are McCain and Obama's paths to victory?

George is joined on the Roundtable this week by George Will, Peggy Noonan, Sam Donaldson, and Cokie Roberts. They'll discuss the campaign, early voting, the economy and Greenspan's testimony this week on the Hill.
