State Fairs Food Favorites

Welcome to this year's state fair. Make sure you have plenty of room in your stomach because in between the midway, the competitions and the shows you will be eating. Eating a lot. And chances are that whatever you are eating will be fried and probably served on a stick. So join us on a culinary tour of the nation's state fairs.

Fried butter was $8 per serving at the State Fair of Texas. Scoops of butter, wrapped in dough, take a bath in the deep fryer to produce a golden little ball. There were four flavors to choose from: 'original', garlic, cherry and grape jelly.
