NEWS SUMMARY

You'll notice today's Note is very short.

It's not because there isn't a lot going on in politics — from Arlen Specter's landslide (not) win, to George Bush's conversation with the prime minister of Sweden, and John Kerry's Ohio/Michigan romps — but the Googling monkeys are demanding some guerrilla marketing of our newest product — Noted Now — of which some of you seem to be still para-blissfully ignorant.

So: some frequently-asked questions we frequently get asked frequently all the time.

Q. So what exactly IS Noted Now?

A. Noted Now is a web page. But it's The Note's web page.

Crack members of the ABC News Political Unit update it regularly with the type of news and information that smart consumers of politics and policy want. Included — the best from the morning shows...instant sound bites from the White House gaggles...international breaking news that affects the political world and the financial markets...near instantaneous updates of what Sen. Kerry and President Bush say on the campaign trail...exclusive reporting and insight from inside the campaigns from ABC News correspondents and reporters...lightning-quick summaries of the evening news...and much more.

Q. How do I find it?

A. Bookmark this page — or, better, make it your homepage: http://abcnews.go.com/sections/politics

Q. How do I know when it's updated?

A. Bookmark the page. http://abcnews.go.com/sections/politics

Return to it often and refresh that balky browser.

We Google-GUARANTEE that it'll be updated in our quick, bullet-pointed format that's easy to read and digest. We update it with new content all the time. If you read Noted Now, you'll know. You'll know what's happening BEFORE (the oft-pre-empted) IP& BEFORE the evening news&BEFORE the morning papers&. And while we can't promise we'll link to every story about YMCAs installing cameras in their pools (Hey, we read it too, so calm down.), we do promise to be peerless about policy and politics.

Just ask all those folks who, we've heard, have already discovered it, delighted in it, and celebrated it as an all-the-time must read.

Q. So can I sign up to get updates?

A. Nope. Much more sensible to check the page often. Wonkette.com has reported that Jeff Zeleny checks and re-checks it at least every 10 minutes — and Mike Allen even more regularly.

Q. Does this cost anything?

A. Nada.

Q. So are you still publishing The Note proper?

A. The original will never die, baby. It remains your macro morning read.

Q. So I was walking on K Street and I saw Jim Johnson chatting with a tall governor of a Southwestern state outside Bubbles Salon. What should I do?

A. E-mail us at politicalunit@abcnews.com. If you're credible (and we're good at figuring that out), your tip could make it onto Noted Now.

Q. Uh, I have no more questions, really. Thanks.

A. Ok. I just like talking to you.

Q. Heh.

So for all the latest news, including the news RIGHT NOW … click here. http://abcnews.go.com/sections/politics

Again, to summarize, because we're in the summary portion of The Note …

For a quick scan of the latest breaking political news suffused with the style and substance of The Note, check Noted Now. http://abcnews.go.com/sections/politics . If you are doing your first Noted Now check about the time The Note is first published today, you'll find:
—-What Sen. Kerry was doing with that familiar-looking Gore guy in a hotel room
—-Don Imus voice added to the chorus of Kerry campaign competence questioners
—-the mustest reads of the day

Go there now for your morning Note and look for Noted Now : http://abcnews.go.com/sections/politics

Today, President Bush meets with Swedish Prime Minister Goran Persson at the White House. The President has no other scheduled events.

Sen. John Kerry wraps up his three-day "Jobs First" bus tour today with stops in Ohio and Michigan. Kerry ends his day in Philadelphia, Penn.

The Supreme Court continues its review of two cases, Hamdi v. Rumsfeld and Padilla v. Rumsfeld, that question the government's power to seize and hold American citizens and deny them access to lawyers and courts.

Veepstakes Special:

As the formal vet approaches full throttle, what's happening with the purported short-listers?

Later this week, Gov. Tom Vilsack attends closed-door DGA events in Kentucky.

On Friday, Gov. Richardson keynotes the South Carolina Democratic Party Jefferson-Jackson dinner. The next day, Sen. John Edwards is expected to speak.

On May 1, Richardson speaks at an Arkansas Democratic Party fundraiser.

Pending his Senate schedule, DLC Chair Evan Bayh will speak at the DLC "National Conversation" in Phoenix, Arizona on Friday, May 7. Kerry will be the keynote speaker. (!)

And Sen. Edwards will keynote Ohio Democratic Party State Dinner on Saturday, May 8.

Rep. Dick Gephardt's major coming out speech (he's done two (2) major public speeches in recent weeks...New Hampshire and Missouri) is in Michigan on May 15, where he keynotes that state's Democratic Party Jefferson-Jackson Day dinner.

Correction:

In yesterday's Note, we incorrectly wrote that the Republican National Committee was testing part of its turnout operation on behalf of Sen. Arlen Specter. We regret the error.
